PREPARING FOR SURGERY

Welcome to Hudson Crossing Surgery Center. Your surgeon will work with you to schedule pre-admission testing and your surgery date at Hudson Crossing Surgery Center. A few days before your surgery, you will receive a phone call from our Pre-op Call Nurse who will provide you with important instructions on how to prepare for your surgery. The Pre-0p Call Nurse will review your past medical/surgical history, current medications, pre-operative instructions and answer any questions you may have on your surgical procedure. During this call the Nurse will verify that you have a responsible adult to accompany you home following surgery and request that individual’s name and contact information.

Please arrive at least one hour prior to your scheduled procedure. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by one of our registration staff who will ask you to fill out any additional paperwork, sign admission documents and answer any questions you may have.

Please be sure to bring your insurance card and some form of identification such as a driver’s license, passport or military ID.
Do not wear any jewelry or bring any valuable items and wear comfortable clothing.
You must have a responsible adult (over the age of 18) to drive/accompany you home after your procedure. If you do not have someone to accompany you home, your surgery will be rescheduled.

You will be taken you to the Pre-Operative suite where you will meet with a registered nurse, anesthesiologist and your surgeon to review your health history and answer any questions your may have about your procedure. You will also meet with the operating room nurse who will be caring for you during surgery.

Immediately following surgery, you will be transferred to the PACU (post-anesthesia surgery care unit) for intensive monitoring and close observation while you are recovering from anesthesia. When you are awake, one family member or friend will be escorted into the PACU where the nurse will review post-operative instructions. The instructions will provide information on how to care for the surgical site, pain medications and when to follow up with your physician. You will be discharged from the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) to your home.
