Ferheen Syed Shamim, MD is a dedicated Sports & Spine Physician focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries.
Dr. Syed Shamim is Dual Board Certified by The American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. During Dr. Syed Shamim’s prestigious fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, she studied and gained expertise in bedside musculoskeletal ultrasound evaluation and guided injections. She has a keen interest in using regenerative medicine and mesenchymal stem cells to successfully treat most orthopedic conditions. Dr. Syed Shamim has lectured on a national stage and authored publications in texts written with leaders in the field. She has published in texts regarding interventional spine procedures and sporting event emergency action plans. She was elected and served as a Chief Resident at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
During her fellowship, she volunteered at a charitable program called Team-to-Win, which provides free comprehensive orthopedic care to student athletes at weekend clinics throughout football season. Dr. Syed Shamim has served as a team physician for multiple colleges and high schools in the east and west coast. She is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Syed Shamim has a lifelong passion for sports that fueled her career in sports medicine. She enjoys helping professional and recreational athletes of all ages get back to doing what they love and believes that a carefully tailored rehabilitation program in conjunction with medications can conservatively treat many orthopedic conditions.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling, running, spinning and cheering on her two sons at their soccer and baseball games.
